This Sunday, 6 Iyar, a lavish, catered breakfast was served for those davening Shacharis at the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway. The event was generously sponsored by the Duchman family in honor of the 36th yartzeit of the legendary Chossid, Reb Yisroel Duchman, OBM.
Reb Yisroel Duchman is remembered for his deep Ahavas Yisroel, his unwavering devotion to the Rebbe, and his lifelong commitment to helping others. He shared a unique and personal relationship with the Rebbe and dedicated himself to bringing the Rebbe joy at every opportunity.
In recognition of his enduring legacy, his many descendants—who today serve as Shluchim and community leaders around the world—are commemorating the yartzeit with memorial events in numerous shuls and communities across the globe.
A fixture in 770, Reb Yisroel never missed a day of davening with the Rebbe, and he was known for his great privilege of leading the davening before the Omud on Simchas Torah. Lag BaOmer, the 33rd day of the Omer, held special significance for him, particularly due to his heartfelt involvement in the Rebbe’s iconic Lag BaOmer parades.
These events aim to honor not only his memory, but the values he embodied—Ahavas Yisroel, devotion to the Rebbe, and tireless dedication to helping a fellow Jew.
