In a radio interview that left listeners stunned, international Jewish music star Gad Elbaz revealed a deeply personal chapter of his life that only recently came to light.
Speaking with Menachem Toker on Kol Chai radio, Elbaz shared that at age 39, he discovered he had never undergone a bris milah.
“I went my whole life believing I’d had a bris as a baby,” Elbaz said. It wasn’t until years later, after his divorce, that he began to question it.
“My parents were secular, and the mohel was older,” he explained. “At some point, I just felt like I needed to look into it and make sure.”
He reached out to a trusted friend who serves as a sandak and asked for guidance. The result was shocking. “He checked and it turned out I had been uncircumcised my whole life,” Elbaz said. “I had a bris at 39.”
Toker, visibly stunned during the broadcast, responded that he could hardly believe what he was hearing.
For Elbaz, the experience was far more than a medical procedure. He described it as a turning point that reshaped his outlook on life and his relationship with Hashem. “It changed my life completely,” he said. “I felt that Hashem was choosing me, and I was choosing Him. Now I have a bris with Him.”
For a singer whose music has long expressed deep Jewish faith and identity, the moment marked a powerful and personal milestone—one that, he says, gave new meaning to the words he has been singing for decades.

I think the public deserves to know what was wrong with his bris and how it was rectified-There are serious Halachic ramifications to these things….
If it were u would probably not even say that u had a late bris,
Just appreciate what was shared
Why does the public *deserve* to know?
Some just draw blood
Stop being so cruel
Where is your ahavas Yisroel?! Would you want someone to speak about you this way?!
Why does the public “deserve” to know anything about his bris?
The public “deserves” to know?
Why is this any of your business? Or anyone of the public?
Details 😂 jk – please NO details
Lemme guess, you want a before and after picture too?
I think you’re overstepping totally. Johnny “Q” public doesn’t need to know what is a personal issue. Where do you get the nerve to write that?
Why is this information even being made public?
It’s a personal matter that should only be known between the singer, Hashem, & his Mashpia/Rav.
What people do for more fame is ridiculous.
Obviously Gad himself want this information to be public
Perhaps to inspire others who are in a similar situation
Very brave to share a story like that in order to inspire others and to bring awareness!
And who the mohel was, so that anyone else that used him should have them self checked
How can you not know if you’ve had a bris or not?

Beautiful and inspiring story, but I’m confused how he didn’t realize that he never had a bris?
In the interview he explains that he was always told by parents that he was born already circumcised “mahul”(which is a rare occurrence mentioned in halavah which still requires a drop of blood to be drawn from the area) but that ended up not being the case once checked by a mohel
His parents lied to him??
Ok so if he wasn’t נולד מהול wouldn’t he or someone else have picked up on that within 39 years
This should not e public and is grotesque.
Why are you reading this during dinner? Put down your phone and eat like a mensch!
Seriously GAD what do u gain by making this public knowledge?
Maybe a bris certificate should be part of a marriage requirement. Maybe tere should be a registry of those who received brissim.
My grandfather was not brought up religious and only found his full hebrew name on the bris certificate after his mother passed ( montreal late 1920s)
In some communities
Whats the problem with sharing details, its not a lack of ahavas yisroel to ask such a question, its coming from a place of curiosity.
The first comment used the word “deserve” instead of “curious” and thats where all the backlash came from.
There’s a difference. Many Non Jews have circumcisions these days. Does not include the Halachas of the Bris .
Listen to interview, nothing like that..
