Mrs. Sari Waren, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and educator who was active in the community of West Hartford, CT, passed away on 7 Iyar, 5786.
She was 61.
Born in Queens, New York, she became frum on her own as a teenager and merited to receive a brocha from the Rebbe for a shidduch. She lived in New Haven, Connecticut for nearly 20 years, and more recently in West Hartford, Connecticut, where she was deeply involved in the community.
Sari was known for her exceptional midos, warmth, and kindness. She was a devoted morah for many years at the Southern Connecticut Hebrew Academy (SCHA), and also spent summers at Camp Gan Israel (CGI), where she cared for her students and campers with patience and genuine love. Her warm smile and kind words left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was also a dear friend to many.
She served her community with unassuming dedication, including as a mikvah attendant and volunteering with the New Haven chevra kadisha. She was known for her many quiet acts of chesed, always giving of herself with sincerity and humility. Many remarked that they never heard her raise her voice or speak an unkind word.
She is survived by her her husband, David Waren, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, and children, Avi Waren of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Levi Waren of Las Vegas, Nevada, Yaffa Waren and Dani Waren of West Hartford; and grandchildren.
She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Yaeger of Southbury, Connecticut, and her brother, Marc Yaeger of Bardonia, New York.
The Levaya will take place on Sunday, April 26 / 9 Iyar at Old Montefiore Cemetery at 3:45 pm.
