Simchas Beis Hashoeva used to be limited. The joy of course was boundless; the laws of physics, however, confined the dancing to a finite radius.
Simchas Beis Hashoeva was always on Kingston Avenue between Montgomery and Crown Streets, a very bounded location for a very boundless experience.
Boundless was exactly how the Rebbe positioned Simchas Beis Hashoeva 40 years ago. In 5740, the Rebbe forever changed the definition of joy and happiness with the instruction and inspiration to take Simchas Beis Hashoeva to the streets, צו מאכען די רשות הרבים טאנצען, to make the public domain dance!
For the past 40 years, the unfettered dancing, unbridled joy, and unbelievable unity of Simchas Beis Hashoeva pulsed across the globe. What began in Crown Heights under the selfless stewardship of R’ Yisroel Shemtov, blossomed into a worldwide revolution, with hundreds of local celebrations across all continents.
But through it all, one thing was missing. Simchas Beis Hashoeva was never truly infinite. It was always limited to time and space, to certain streets, bound by physical borders. You always had to go to Simchas Beis Hashoeva; Simchas Beis Hashoeva never really came to you.
Until this year. As the COVID-19 pandemic causes shifts in our normal lives, limiting social gatherings, R’ Yisroel Shemtov used his trademark revolutionary spirit to innovate a way to produce increased light from the darkness.
Simcha portetz geder, joy transcends all boundaries. And this year, for the first time in history, the joy of Simchas Beis Hashoeva literally has not a single boundary!
COLlive.com is exclusively broadcasting the drive-by Simchas Beis Hashoeva. Tonight: Shmuly Hurwitz is accompanied the Chony Milecki band.
Reb Yisroel and his team have put the entire Simchas Beis Hashoeva on a float, which will bring the Simcha and music and dancing to every single street, house, and person in Crown Heights. And the world!
The joy afloat will be live-streamed on COLlive.com every single night from 7-10pm EST for the world to dance together as one.
This year, you don’t go to Simchas Beis Hashoeva. This year, Simchas Beis Hashoeva comes to you, wherever, however, whenever you are.
One more small point. The greatest Simcha is born, not when you receive, but when you give. When you give life you feel alive. When you give joy you are most joyous.
When you partner with R’ Yisroel, you are making the world float!
Please go to charidy.com/sbh to float higher, every block, every house, every person!
