After 38 Annual Dinners, which merited until 27 Adar 1, 5752 annual letters from the Rebbe, Congregation Levi Yitzchok-Lubavitch & Chabad of South Broward Headquarters, knew “the show must go on” and presented an action packed Virtual Dinner on September 15.
The event featured Rabbi Abba Perelmuter as Master of Ceremonies and Jewish Music Superstar Benny Friedman Live. Both Rabbi Perelmuter and Benny were on fire, for an evening that entertained and inspired people all over the world.
Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus, Head Shliach in South Broward, admits that Covid-19 has warranted adjustments.
“Instead of 22 Minyanim in the 22 Chabad Houses of South Broward, there were some 40 Minyanim this year for the High Holidays. On Rosh Hashanah, due to Covid, more people than ever heard Shofar throughout South Broward, as the Shluchim and Anash and volunteers went door to door and block to block, sounding the Shofar to thousands of men, women and children,” Rabbi Tennenhaus said.
Chabad of South Broward has given over 1,000 hours of live Zoom Torah classes the last six months, in both Nigleh and Chassidus, beginning daily at 6:00am, as well as a dozen Farbrengens via Zoom.
Their annual Chanukah festival which draws thousands each year, is being planned this year as an outdoor event in a Gulfstream parking lot which can accommodate thousands of cars, they announced.
And from day one of the Pandemic, Chabad’s office never closed. Rabbi Moshe Schwartz, Chabad’s Administrator since 1988, has been the lifeline to thousands, including many seniors and Holocaust Survivors. Chabad of South Broward has helped 500 families with money, and they are helping many needy families during Tishrei.
Eishes Chayil at the Dinner was Mrs. Rivka Lazerson, a Hometown Covid-19 Heroine.
Rivka Lazerson is a dedicated mother of three and loving and caring wife who works as an ICU nurse for Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood FL.
