Crown Heights was well represented at this year’s Bramson ORT College graduation held on June 26, 2011.
Not only was the auditorium at Forest Hill’s Bucharian center dotted with many yarmulkes, beards and sheitelach, but students from the Jewish Technical Vocational School, as well as other Crown Heights residents, were prominently represented in the list of this year’s graduates.
“The school was very proud to have many Chabad students appear on the Dean’s and Director’s lists,” said Yair Rosenrauch, Director of the College’s Brooklyn extension site.
These lists are comprised of students with the highest grade point averages. No fewer than 10 Chabad students made the coveted list.
Shea Halberstam and Dovid Ciment were honored for carrying 4.0 grade averages and made the Directors list, they both intend to continue their higher education.
Dr. Ephraim Buhks, Director of the college, made an emotional dedication lauding the triumphs and successes of Halberstam.
Shua Hayward, Raphael Beresnitzky, Jacob Yehuda Hecht and Yehuda Dov Ber Lewis all received honors on the Dean’s List.
Two time winner of New York’s Commissioner for a Day Essay Contest, Yosef Abrahamson won the 2011 Bramson Ort Graduation Essay on the meaning of “Higher Education.”
The JTVS Graduating class were:
Yosef Abrahamson
Aaron Alenick
Raphael Beresnitzky
Dovid Ciment
Shea Halberstam
Shua Hayward
Yanky Hecht
Shmaya Krinsky
Yudi Lewis
JTVS, directed by Rabbi Levi Kaplan and run under the auspices of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, is proving to be a success story that speaks through the perseverance, achievements and accomplishments of its students. Out of the 2011 Graduating class of 300, JTVS students excelled.
JTVS, while offering young men an opportunity for a college education, has been just as successful in maintaining its primary mission to strengthen and encourage young men to continue in their Jewish Education. Abrahamson, who received a degree in Business along with several other students, intends to continue learning through JTVS to obtain Smicha.
Enrollment has now begun for Bramson ORT’s fall semester. To learn more about the JTVS program and earning your GED/ Associates at Bramson ORT college, contact Rabbi Kaplan at 718-877-3528 or visit JTVS.org
