Regesh Treatment Center in central Israel opened its doors a year ago and has already impacted the lives of over 200 Chabad families who have special needs children.
At its innovative facility located in Beit Dagan, near the Kfar Chabad village, it provides the children with subsidized ancillary medical services in a beautiful, child-friendly setting while exuding the warmth and positivity that have become the hallmarks of Chabad.
It is run under the “Yad La’Yeled” association established 8 years ago by Chabad parents of special needs children living in Israel, seeking support to help meet the challenge of raising children with special needs.
A new building for the center was built through the generosity and assistance of Rabbi Moishe Meir Lipszyc, the Chabad shliach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and named “Beit Mendy and Goldie” in honor of his children.
This past week, friends of “Lend a Hand to a Special Child”, along with many of the families and children touched by this wonderful organization, gathered to celebrate the center’s first birthday at a festive dinner.
The families, supporters, and staff were joined by Rabbi Lipszyc, his brother, Chabad shliach Rabbi Avraham Lipszyc and their mother, Mrs. Chana Lipszyc.
Regesh supporters, Mrs. Bernice Smilowitz and Rabbi Zalman and Mimi Fellig of Miami Beach were also in attendance.
Mrs. Smilowitz unveiled a plaque for the center’s therapeutic garden, which she dedicated in memory of her brother Asher Anshel Ringler, z”l. The crowd was intrigued by the story of her brother’s short, but incredibly meaningful and inspiring life.
Mrs. Smilowitz expressed her deep admiration for the center and its’ accomplishments. Her generosity did not end there. She graciously gave each child a “birthday present” in honor of the center’s special day. Needless to say, the children were overjoyed.
Center Director, Mrs. Sigal Gat and “Lend a Hand to a Special Child” Executive Director Rabbi Menachem Mendel Belinitzky addressed the guests and spoke of the achievements of the past year, and their plans to expand the center and replicate its success at additional locations across the country.
The children enjoyed their own special program that included a delicious chocolate-making workshop, arts and crafts sessions and inflatable moon bounces.
