Play and have fun but don’t lookup to the players
Exactly and you need to be healthy because torah says soo so sit to watch a game isn’t healthy not sports do sports for health and health alone !!! Sports is the new idol worship sadly
WHO SAYS WATCHING ISNT HEALTHY. ITS FOR SURE HEALTHY AND ON ALOT OF LEVELS. JUST SAY YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IT
Some mashpiim frown about playing
When I came to yeshiva 50 years ago)I ask them if I could play soccers the answer was NO
It’s not chasidiche!?
In America that our yeshivas recognize sports as a healthy outlet…
Bochrim in Israel are forbidden…
I guess unhealthy outlets that arent seen to the “outside” and protect the yeshivas “name” are a better option…
For the record, in my yeshiva they let us play since corona started (before that israeli bochurim didn’t need it as they usually go home at least once a month, not necessarily because it isn’t chassidish).
We can respect and admire a players talent and ability on the field, but not their lifestyle off the field if it doesn’t align with Torah values.
You can do exercise for health but sports increases the risk for injury and there’s no reason to have that risk
You hit it right on the Nail. I believe it’s good to play sports for health reasons, just play it to have fun and to connect with your friends. Please don’t look up to the Athletes as your roll model in life, off the court they are totally different. Look up to the Rabbaim to lead a Yiddishah and chasidishah life trust me you will be much more happy in life
I think the real question should be about competition. Why does the Chabad yeshiva system frown on organized sports (referees and out of school competition where there is a system of games that end after their allocated fulfillment)
And ok top of that, are we saying that sports are essentially bad since the professionals that play it are not to be looked up to as role models?
I don’t feel that you answered the question posed in the heading of the article.
