She leaves everything behind.. her home, her past, her future.
She arrives in a new land with nothing… and begins to give.
Quietly. Consistently. Without recognition.
When we read Megillas Rus on Shavuos, it’s easy to overlook her. There are no dramatic speeches, no open miracles, no obvious turning points. Rus does not command attention. She doesn’t seem to shape the story in any overt way.
And yet, from her quiet choices, the entire future of Malchus Beis Dovid emerges.
There is something deeply compelling about a story where everything important happens beneath the surface.
This Shavuos, the Batsheva Learning Center is inviting women to step into that hidden layer with a new learning booklet: “Rus: The Silent Giver.”
The booklet explores the Megillah through a deeper lens, uncovering the power of hidden chesed and the kind of giving that doesn’t seek recognition, yet transforms everything. Through carefully curated sources, learners are guided to see Rus not just as a figure in a story, but as a model of Avodas Hashem, one rooted in consistency, humility, and inner strength.
Participants engage directly with the texts, studying the Megillah alongside classical and Chassidic sources presented in full Hebrew with clear English translations. The structure is designed to make the learning both accessible and meaningful, whether in a group setting or personal study.
But beyond the content itself, the goal is to create an experience, one where women can connect to the themes of Shavuos in a way that feels grounded in sources and relevant to their own lives.
To make leading your own Torah class smooth and simple, Batsheva Learning Center has created a full learning package around the booklet. Beautifully printed copies are available for order, allowing for a polished and cohesive group learning experience. A companion podcast episode offers a guided walkthrough of the ideas and sources, helping both teachers and participants deepen their understanding. A customizable flyer template is also included, making it easy to advertise and bring a learning event together.
