FDNY responded to a Sunday afternoon fire at a house on Union Street that had reportedly been vacant and occasionally used by bochurim; no injuries were reported.
FDNY units were called Sunday shortly after 12:00 p.m. to a fire at 1563 Union Street, between Albany and Troy Avenues in Crown Heights, after smoke and flames were seen coming from the first floor of the home.
Firefighters arrived on scene and worked to bring the blaze under control. The extent of the damage was not immediately clear.
According to a local source, the house has been on the market for several months and is not regularly occupied. At times, yeshiva bochurim were known to sleep there.
Boruch Hashem, no injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Scary when this happens. Everyone needs to check their dryer vents at least once a year
Please don’t let bochrim to sleep in any houses that don’t have fire and pass fire inspection- enough for what we all have and this is time to check fire safety in every single household.
