Brooklyn Heights shone brightly on the seventh night of Chanukah as thousands gathered to celebrate at the Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht Memorial Menorah. Located in front of the Kings County Supreme Court building at Court and Montague Streets, the grand menorah lighting was a vibrant expression of Jewish pride and unity.
The event, organized by Chabad of Brooklyn Heights under the leadership of Rabbi Aaron and Shternie Raskin, featured a spiritual and uplifting menorah lighting ceremony. The blessings were recited by Naftali Moscowitz of Atlantic Physical Therapy, adding a profound sense of reverence to the evening.
The celebration continued with a dazzling concert on the steps of Borough Hall. World-renowned artists Matisyahu and Kosha Dillz headlined the evening, captivating the audience with electrifying performances enhanced by a state-of-the-art light show.
Rabbi Aaron Raskin led the children in reciting the 12 Pesukim, while Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez delivered heartfelt Chanukah greetings and blessings to the diverse crowd. Rabbi Yankel and Yael Raskin, who have been spearheading this beloved annual concert for five years, were lauded for their tireless efforts in fostering community spirit.
“The energy tonight was incredible,” shared Daniel M., one of the attendees. “This celebration of Jewish unity and pride is the perfect response to anti-Semitism.”
Jason K., a Brooklyn Heights resident, echoed the sentiment, noting, “This was one of the most unforgettable concerts we’ve ever had. The turnout was phenomenal!”
Reflecting on the record-breaking attendance, Rabbi Aaron Raskin remarked, “We’ve never had such a giant crowd. It’s a true testament to the power of unity and light.”
This cherished event was made possible through the generous support of major sponsors, including COLlive, the Stone Family, Benz’s Gourmet, Brooklyn Comfortable Dental Care, the Houser Family, the Gottlieb Family, NY Orthopedics, Atlantic Physical Therapy, and Positive Lifting.
The joyous evening brought together people of all ages and backgrounds, creating a powerful display of light and unity in the heart of Brooklyn.
