5 Tevet, 5785 / January 4, 2025
Dear Friend,
Today, the 5th of Teves, marks 38 years since the momentous victory in the challenge over the ownership of the Chabad-Lubavitch Central Library and Archive Center, with the ruling affirming that it is the property of Agudas Chasidei Chabad.
Many recall the tension and anxiety that gripped the world of Chabad-Lubavitch as the fate of this precious collection, carefully curated by seven generations of Rebbeim, lay in the hands of the Civil Courts. The immense joy and relief that followed the release of the ruling by the honorable Judge Charles Sifton remain unforgettable.
In his ruling, Judge Sifton highlighted the significance of the testimony given by Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, wife of the Rebbe and daughter of the Previous Rebbe. She stated, “My father and everything he had belonged to the Chasidim.”
This poignant reflection on the Rebbe/Chosid relationship left a lasting impression on the judge, providing him with the insight necessary to make his ruling.
In honor of Hei Teves, Machne Israel Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters is facilitating a crowdfunding campaign to support the upkeep of this invaluable collection.
What better way to honor this day than by ensuring the continuity of the Crown Jewel of Chabad-Lubavitch through your donation to the library’s maintenance, preservation, and further growth.
