In this episode of The Rabbi & the Therapist, the conversation delves into the controversial topic of cannabis use and addiction. With cannabis shops popping up everywhere, it’s easy to believe it’s harmless, but is that truly the case?
The discussion opens by sharing alarming data from countries like the Netherlands, linking long-term cannabis use to severe conditions like schizophrenia and a lack of motivation. From the rabbinic perspective, Rabbi Shea grapples with the moral implications, questioning why more religious leaders haven’t openly condemned it. As cannabis becomes more widespread, both hosts raise a crucial point: how can we prevent people from going down a path that seems so harmless but can have life-altering consequences?
This episode challenges common perceptions and offers a fresh perspective on the deeper issues behind cannabis use, making it a must-listen for anyone curious about the topic.

Under 21 when brains are developing and young people don’t always have good judgement, I agree. Dont make broad statements. Adults use of controlled cannabis can be extremely helpful.
brains are developing long after 21
That is your opinion, and you are making a broad statement.
It is not always helpful, even for adults, and it kills brain cells even in adults
for how somebody can heal their brain if they don’t use hallucinogens anymore.
