At the beginning of every month, the Achos heads at Rohr Bais Chaya Academy in Tamarac, Florida, make a farbrengen about their monthly theme with a guest speaker.
In Adar, they were riveted by Rabbi Chaim Dovid Janowski who discussed the power that the media has and how we can channel it. The menu was carnival themed, to show how you’re able to have a good time and enjoy yourself in a kosher setting.
The annual school Shabbaton was held in Adar at CGI Florida’s campgrounds in Lake Worth. Coming right from Purim, the theme was “Venahafochu – it’s about time for a paradigm shift” which focused on how to look at the basic building blocks of yiddishkeit with a new lens.
Rabbi Aaron and Mrs. Leah Herman from Pittsburgh were the guest speakers. The girls chose between various workshops to join on shabbos, including: Mythbusters, An Answer to all your “Jewish” Questions, what tznius really means, and Shifting Voices – changing how we communicate.
On Motzoei Shabbos they were treated to a kumzitz with Esther Freeman, a hair-raising fear factor, and a delicious melave malka.
In honor of Chof Hey Adar – the Rebbetzin’s birthday, Mrs. Chana Marlow shared her personal stories with the Rebbetzin, along with a delicious ice cream bar.
A unique gift, entitled “Farbrengen in a bag” was given out by the Chassidishe Yomim Tovim committee for each student l to take home in honor of Yud Aleph Nissan.
Inside each bag was a copy of Early Years by JEM, a birthday checklist, a mini bottle of grape juice, and some snacks to make their own mini farbrengen while at home for Pesach vacation.
