A gala reception held at the Yale Club of New York City, a private club in Midtown Manhattan restricted to alumni and faculty of Yale University, celebrated the 10th anniversary of Chabad at Yale University last week.
Over cocktails and a buffet dinner, hundreds saluted the activities of Shluchim Rabbi Shua and Sara Rosenstein at one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in the United States.
Founded in 2002, Chabad at Yale began in a small one bedroom apartment in the Taft building on campus and has grown into a thriving organization, serving the needs of hundreds of Jewish students and faculty.
They have been offering a “home away from home” with Shabbat and holiday dinners, classes and Jewish study, Birthright Israel trips, and a wide array of social and cultural programs and activities.
In 2010, Rabbi Rosenstein purchased a 3-story, 11,000 square foot building at 36 Lynwood Place to accommodate the many students who make Chabad their home.
The elegant event, produced by Fleishman Productions along with D-Vision AV, was also an occasion to present the plans for their $6 million building project.
This new building, when complete in 2013, will feature a library, study, synagogue, dining hall, students’ lounge and guest suites, allowing the organization to accelerate their growth into the next decade and beyond.
Participants of the dinner celebration – many of whom are alumni of the University – expressed their appreciation and excitement over the expansion.
One of them was George Rohr, who attended the event as the patron of Chabad on Campus International and instrumental in the growth of Chabad student activities, including Yale.
Also present was Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and his son Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch.
May all the plans go well,

Beautiful progress in the building of the new Chabad House at Yale. The Secret Societies should all be jealous of the new “spooks” on Campus
