The past few weeks have been very exciting at Cheder Menachem as students of all the classes have been learning about this special year and preparing for the Shemittah fair. Classes have been using centers prepared by Mrs. Chanie Zaklikovsky to master the concept of Shemittah.
“Bitachon bracha blessing” is this year’s theme. The preschool classes have been learning all about planting and planted their own plants in honor of Tu Bshevat to get a full understanding where produce comes from.
Grade 2 was able to identify all of the parts of the tree and what they each represent according to Chassidus. The laws pertaining to Shemittah surely came alive as our Grades 3-5 displayed the special garbage disposals, stores by Bais Din, specific ways to lend money and to remain slaves. The Middle School students were challenged by comparing shemittah with Shabbos and the days of Moshiach. ״It was heartwarming to watch my children work with their friends on this project, a picture perfect moment,” said Sara Schapiro, Shlucha in Manalapan, NJ.
“I’ve learned so much from this too. The timing was great, my children enjoyed the snow day by completing their displays,” noted Mrs. Rosie Weinstein.
“Lots of efforts went into making this amazing fair by all of the teachers and students, glad it is only once every seven years,” said Mrs. Dina Goldenberg, Shemittah fair coordinator. It was an amazing learning opportunity for students to use their creativity to create informative and interactive displays.
Cheder Menachem NJ is located in North Brunswick, NJ directed by Rabbi Levi & Goldie Azimov. Its small classes, dedicated staff and Chassidishe warm atmosphere make the Cheder very special. The Cheder is a unique moisad that it gives the Shluchim in the Central Jersey and Northern PA an opportunity for their children to get the chassidishe and quality chinuch they deserve.
