Nearly 70 students of Lubavitch Yeshiva’s 6th and 7th grades participating in the Mishmor learning program set out to the Rabbinical college of America campus in Morristown, NJ for an amazing, most memorable Shabbaton.
It was for their great achievement and excellence in the Thursday evening Chavrusah learning program with Oholei Torah Zal Bochurim.
After leaving from Lubavitch Yeshiva, the kids were pretty surprised to find themselves in front of 7-eleven, where they all received a big Slurpee!
Back on the buses, the excitement continued until they finally arrived in Morristown. After settling in their rooms, the kids were gathered in the Shul where an argument suddenly broke out… and Color war was broken out!
The teams were split up, ‘Farbrengen’ and ‘Mivtzoim’ themes were explained and the kids then went to prepare for Shabbos with a new Chayus.
The most exciting Shabbos ever began with the original Mishmor – groups learning a Sicha with the Bochurim, and then a smashing Kabbolas Shabbos, as well as a surprise story by Rabbi Bendet. It was followed by an uplifting Seudah with lots of singing and dancing, delicious food, and of course – Farbrenging. After a short break, the kids – accompanied by Bochurim – headed to the Piekarski and Wagner homes, where they enjoyed Farbrengens with interesting stories, lively Niggunim and had an amazing time.
After waking up and eating breakfast, we began Shachris with the special Rosh Chodesh Adar spirit which continued through Shabbos. With singing throughout Shachris, lively Niggunim at Hallel, and counting the letters by Kriah, Davening really felt like fun. We then had another great Seudah, after which we had time to play some games, and before we knew it, it was time for Mincha. Before Maariv, the Bochurim presented a humorous skit, ending the awesome Shabbos.
After Havdalah the kids quickly packed up their stuff, and headed to the hall for a grand surprise magic show! We all watched birds and rabbits come out of the magician’s pockets, card tricks and much more, it was really cool and fun! Going from good to better, a hot delicious barbeque was waiting for us, with hot dogs, chicken wings and more!
And right when we thought it’s all over, we boarded the buses and arrived at ice skating! The kids enjoyed over an hour on the ice with lively music, and really had a blast! By now pretty tired, the kids headed back home feeling enthusiastic and excited to continue giving the Rebbe much Nachas, by learning his Torah and following in his footsteps.
A special thank you goes to Rabbi Simpson and Rabbi Turk of ULY, as well as Bochurim Yisroel Yarmak and Levi Goldshmid for making the Shabbaton the success it was!
