Crown Heights Shmira would like to welcome all the Rebbe’s Shluchos and their guests that are visiting this weekend for the yearly global Shluchos convention.
Below are a few security and safety tips we would like to share with you.
• Walk in groups when possible and always be aware of your surroundings
• When using your cell phone, be extra alert
• Do not leave valuables in your vehicle
• Keep money and passports in a safe location
• Don’t carry large amounts of cash
• Label suitcases with name and contact information
• Do not leave bags unattended, even for a second
• If you are planning to drive, be sure to check if your license is valid in the US
• Keep Shmira’s number saved on speed dial
• If you witness or are involved in an incident, call Shmira right away while keeping an eye on perpetrators from a safe distance.
In light of recent terrorist attacks in Israel, Crown Heights Shmira in conjunction with the NYPD 71st Precinct will be stepping up patrols in the area.
In regards to the previously reported incidents, Shmira is reminding the community of the ongoing danger, as there were 2 additional attempted armed robberies in Crown Heights, last week.
The pattern is the same. An African American male wearing a ski mask is displaying a knife while demanding money. Both times he ended up empty handed, and nobody got hurt.
Shmira is urging the community to remain extremely alert, yell for help if Ch”v approached by a thief, and immediately call Shmira @ 718-221-0303 and 911, even on Shabbos.
This is the ghetto
The block was quiet & she was totally absorbed on her cell phone as she walked – not a good idea for anyone anywhere Please – we still live in a very imperfect world – protect yourself
It’s a good reminder for all of us living here too.
Thank you so much shmira, for always giving us advice , and protecting us!!:-D I always feel safe when I know shmirah is around!!!!!¡!!!!!¡!!¡
