A special Farbrengen was held to mark a milestone event Wednesday, dedicating a new wing of the Library of Agudas Chasidei Chabad at Chabad Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway.
The historic event took place on the auspicious day of the eve of Hei Teves in the newly built wing of the Library.
Opening the event was the Chief Librarian Rabbi Shalom Ber Levine, who described how the library had filled up so much over the years, until the expansion became necessary. He related how the Rebbe had requested of him to expand the Library and ensure that funding continued.
After many years, and the help of generous donors, a new wing has finally been completed and is being stocked with precious holy seforim.
Rabbi Levine noted the great zechus and obligation all Chasidim have to support and uphold the Library.
Speakers also included Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky – The Rebbe’s Secretary and Secretary of Agudas Chabad, Rabbi Avrohom Shemtov – Chairman Of Agudas Chabad Haolami, Rabbi Shlomo Cunin – Head Shliach West Coast and member of Agudas Chabad Haolami and Aguch of Former Soviet Union, Rabbi Yosef Aharanov – Chairman of Tzach Israel and member of Aguch of Former Soviet Union, as well as Attorney Nat Lewin and Attorney Steve Lieberman.
A campaign is currently underway to fund and support the Rebbe’s Library and all its treasures – our history and our heritage.
All of us have the opportunity, and indeed the OBLIGATION to uphold the central Chabad Library, and to ensure the next generation come to know its storied history, enjoy the seforim of Chasidus printed from its treasures, see the artifacts, and take pride in what rightfully belongs, and will always belong to CHASSIDIM.
