New Shluchim to Sarasota, Florida

Chabad of Sarasota has announced that Rabbi Mendy and Chaya Mushka Steinmetz (nee Lipskar) have joined the team to strengthen youth and family programming within their vibrant and growing community.

With a shared passion for education, outreach, and authentic connection, Rabbi Mendy and Chaya Mushka bring warmth, creativity, and youthful energy to Sarasota. They will lead the CTeen programs, develop engaging family holiday celebrations, lead Hebrew School, and create meaningful experiences for families that will further nurture connection, pride, and joy in Jewish life.

Rabbi Mendy grew up in Sarasota, while Chaya Mushka grew up in Surfside, Florida, immersed in the warmth and mission of Chabad life. Both were raised in homes of lifelong Chabad emissaries, where they absorbed the joy and responsibility of sharing Judaism with others. Inspired by their parents’ example and by the Rebbe’s vision, they are now continuing that mission — bringing Judaism with a smile, Jewish pride, and Jewish continuity to the Sarasota community where they have established their new home together with their seven-month-old daughter, Miriam.
