A Chabad family is setting up shop at one of California’s most charming cities in time for Passover.
Rabbi Mordy and Rochel Nemtzov are founding Chabad of Ojai to serve the Jewish residents in the city surrounded by hills and mountains in Ventura County.
The Los Angeles residents will be conducting their first activity in 3 weeks when they will be holding a community Passover seder, offering locals an authentic and uniting experience.
The Nemtzovs were appointed to the new position by Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, Head Shliach of the West Coast and Director of Chabad of California.
After the 8 day holiday, the Nemtzovs will be moving permanently to Ojai with their four daughters Chaya Mushka, Basha, Shayna Sorah and Malka.
Ojai, which residents like to call a “village” of about 8,000, is known as a haven for artists, musicians and health enthusiasts. A tourist destination, it has boutique hotels and recreation opportunities and a farmers’ market with local organic agriculture.
The new Chabad Shluchim will be looking to develop a spiritual following and bring awareness to Jewish tradition and customs.
