Rabbi Elie Filler and his wife Bracha (nee Kravitsky), along with their son Mendel, have been appointed to be the Chabad Shluchim to Prescott, and its surrounding towns Prescott Valley and Chino Valley, Arizona.
Prescott and its surrounding towns are mountainous and scenic historical towns with a beautiful climate year round.
There are an estimated 2,000 Jews living in the greater Prescott area, and there is no Shliach within a 90 mile radius to provide for their Jewish needs.
The Fillers are looking forward to connecting with those who reside in the area. “Our goal is to create a sense of Jewish community where every Jew feels they belong,” Rabbi Filler affirms.
They intend to accomplish this by offering a variety of Torah classes and programs catered to the families, university students, professionals, and tourists in the area. They also envision the establishment of a Jewish Center, which would include a Hebrew school and a mikvah, and plan to make Kosher food and articles more readily available.
The Fillers were received with enthusiasm by the local Jews that they met during a recent visit to Prescott, and are already in communication with them regarding their arrival, hopefully in time for Chanukah.
The Fillers have been appointed by the Head Shluchim to Arizona, Rabbi Zalman and Mrs. Tziporah Levertov.
