New Shliach Departs in Style

Rabbi Shmulik Cohen and his wife Zelda (nee Gurevitch) have left this past week on Shlichus to Manchester, England, where he will teach at Oholei Yosef Yitzchok boys school and she will work at the L’Chaim Outreach.

In true Chassidic spirit, a farbrengen was arranged in honor of their departure, which continued until the early hours of the morning.

At the farbrengen they discussed and emphasized the special zechus and “Ashreinu” of being sent on the Rebbe’s shlichus.

An elder chasid recalled how in 5727 (1967) when the first Talmidim Hashluchim were sent to Australia, the Rebbe davened Mincha an hour earlier in order to escort the Shluchim.

“Needless to say, the same holds true today, that the Rebbe escorts every Shliach,” he said.

As Shmulik was a Tankist on the Park Avenue Mitzvah Tank, he departed in style – in a Mitzvah Tank.

The Cohens left from 770 Eastern Parkway where friends gathered to dance and escort them to the airport.

With a lively “Ki B’simacha” and “Shluchei Adoninenu” they checked in and began their Shlichus on the right foot – L’chatchila Ariber.
