Rabbi Mendel and Tzivia Volovik (nee Treitel) are establishing the first Chabad Center at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Williams College is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the United States. Its students are thoughtful, ambitious, and deeply engaged in shaping the future. They are tomorrow’s leaders in business, academia, public service, and beyond. Now, with the arrival of Mendel and Tzivia Volovik, along with their son Yosef, a vibrant and welcoming Jewish home is taking root at the heart of campus life.
The Shluchim will open their doors to offer warm, uplifting Shabbat dinners that nourish both body and soul. They will offer one-on-one learning, thoughtful mentorship, and meaningful conversations. They will be organizing programs for Yomim Tovim and creating opportunities for Jewish students to meet one another and build meaningful connections.
“On a campus like Williams, where academic rigor meets extraordinary leadership potential, the presence of a strong Jewish community is essential,” said Mendel Volovik. “The students shaped here will go on to influence the world in profound ways. By strengthening their Jewish identity today, we are investing in a vibrant Jewish future for generations to come.”
As the only Chabad serving both Williams College and the greater Williamstown area, with no other Chabad presence, the new Shluchim to Williamstown carry a vital responsibility.
To launch Chabad and build a strong foundation for the years ahead, they are raising $60,000.
“These funds will help us create programming, host Shabbat and Yom Tov meals, provide learning opportunities, and establish a warm and welcoming Jewish home on campus,” says Tzivia Volovik.
“We invite you to partner with us in this historic moment. Please consider making a generous donation at charidy.com/williamstown and help us reach our goal.”
