The annual Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebration which takes place in the streets of Crown Heights has begun, bigger than ever this year, expanding to the Crown Street intersection to allow better stage visibility and more dancing space.
Thousands of guests have joined the Crown Heights community for Tishrei in this Hakhel year, creating the largest Simchas Beis Hashoeva in years.
Longtime organizer Rabbi Yisroel Shemtov, who has been arranging and funding the celebration for over 40 years, has once again ensured a nightly celebration over Chol Hamoed, featuring the biggest stars in Jewish music.
Simchas Beis Hashoeva events were very precious to the Rebbe. The Rebbe encouraged the Chassidim to celebrate each night, and increase the Simcha. Exciting plans for Simchas Beis Hashoeva during this Hakhel year include an exciting children’s program and a full band.

I don’t know the reasons that the dancing area was moved to Crown and Kingston, but I can tell you the women’s viewing area has been reduced in size and in the late night hours completely hijacked by girls on multiple layers of milk crates stacked 3-4 layers high with girls standing on them, blocking all possibility if seeing. I went last night and was terribly disappointed, it was not possible to see anything. Kol Hakavod!!! However…any ideas of how to get around the problem of crates being piled up high …besides the risks….blocking the view for MANY women? Who should be contacted to help deal with this issue…BeDarchei Noam?
last night after the band changed over, women and girls built a “wall” by putting down crates and then standing on them right in the front area of a huge part of the womens section and you could not see mostly anything in all those areas, unless you were on one of those crates
if you want to put up crates put it against the wall, not where you block everyone else from seeing
it is very selfish
