Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), one of two Jewish Republicans in Congress who is running for Governor of New York, visited Crown Heights Tuesday night and was greeted by supporters.
Congressman Zeldin attended an event hosted in the Sukkah of Naftali Berkowitz, and he heard from local residents about their concerns and issues facing the Jewish community.
Zeldin then joined the Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebration on Kingston Avenue, where he greeted the thousands of participants. “This is a great night for all of us to be out here with family,” Zeldin said. “This is a great time of year for us to celebrate…and enjoy time with family and friends. Enjoy the music and happy Sukkos!”
He then stepped out into the joyous crowd, meeting local residents who expressed their support for his run for Governor in the upcoming election.
Last month, Zeldin paid a visit to the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, where he prayed for blessings and also was presented with a letter from the Frierdiker Rebbe which was written to his great-grandfather, R’ Moshe Efraim Zeldin, who Rep. Zeldin is named after.
