A Jewish man was assaulted by a group of 5 men while walking on the street in Crown Heights on Thursday evening in what police are investigating as a possible bias incident.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 pm when the victim, a 25-year-old visibly Jewish man wearing traditional Jewish clothing, was walking on Empire Boulevard towards Albany Avenue.
5 Black males, approximately 5’10—6’0 feet tall and wearing backpacks, approached the victim without prior interaction, police said. One of them punched the victim in the face, knocking his glasses to the ground, and calling out to him, “you dirty Jew.”
The attackers fled westbound on Empire Boulevard, turning on Albany Avenue. The victim lost sight of them on Montgomery Street, he told police.
The victim’s injuries were not serious, and he was treated by EMS at the 71st Precinct.
Hate crimes has been notified and is investigating, police said.

Why dont we have shomrom organize car patrols in crown hts as was done in late 1960s to protect us? People were assigned to drive through certain streets every day to provide safety

They need more Volunteers needed, More concerned responsible/working Lubavitchers in our community should consider joining Shomrim or Shmira.
I remember this. My father was a member of the Macabees. We lived next door to Rabbi Schraage. I was about 7.
They do have both Shomrim and Shmira doing nightly patrols, But they need more motivated working good very responsible people like you and others that love crown heights to get involved and join them.
If the police won’t protect us, we need to protect ourselves. Pls shomrim, shemira take charge of our streets and protect our community.

Due to the very obvious dangerous increase and uptick of in Crime affecting Crown Heights, those that can get involved to help out should. All our Young Chevra, Older Mature Working Bocherim & Yungerleit in Crown Heights should be highly encouraged to step up to the plate, to get involved a little & to be active to an extent in helping their community. if there was just 1 story of this happening to a black, the whole media and police force wouldn’t stop until they found them, maybe its time for our so called reps of the community and the jewish leaders to go and yell the heck out of the police and authorities that this must stop ASAP. and let them know that if it isnt stop ASAP that we will start eliminating all these criminals. enough is a enough
If the criminals that did this ran North on Albany Avenue then it could very likely be they went all the way to the Albany NYCHA Housing Projects by Albany & Park Place, This is something the victim should bring to the detectives attention maybe check the Albany Projects Video Cameras from around that time to see if the victim recognizes these criminals, Many crimes in CH tend to lead back to those city owned buildings….
That block that it looks like this Assault happened on, Empire between Albany & Troy. Has 7 Buildings which I believe all have Video Cameras, As well as many Yidden Homes with Video Cameras, They should ask for the video footage from wherever this happened in front of.
Always good to put Video Cameras on your Homes.

1) Install one of those expandible metal NYPD police towers on Albany & Empire with an officer in a car outside on the ground
2) More cameras along Albany Ave and close to the Albany projects since this is a repeated Narrative
