Ilford Wraps Winter Camp

An amazingly successful Winter Camp has just concluded in Ilford, Essex in the UK where Chabad has been running camps for a staggering 40 years.

One of the earliest places where Chabad set up day camps for the wider community, these camps have been located in many different locations, have been directed by a number of Shluchim over the years and are going from strength to strength.

The Winter Camp, held at the Gants Hill Chabad Centre, saw over 30 children enjoy a week of fun activities, crafts and trips. The Camp was led by 7th time Ilford HC Rivky Kesselman along with her dedicated staff of Esti Rubin, Devorah Leah Tiefenbrun, Sara Gila Brooks and two Junior Counselors Jenifer Harding and Rhianna Bongart, who after years of attending Camp as campers are now coming back to help and give back.

Rabbi Odom Brandman, Camp Director, said, “The fantastic camp atmosphere and spirit, well planned and executed activities, smooth running schedule and appreciative smiles on the faces of the campers each day was a real credit to the hard working staff and especially to our Head Counselor who as always really excelled. The kids love camp, learn so much about loving Judaism and can’t wait to come back.”

The theme of the Camp was brochos, with all activities, crafts, games and learning classes centered around the theme. Campers all had an enjoyable experience and a great picture slideshow helps everyone relieve the memories and keep the camp spirit rolling until the next camp.
