A stone heritage house in the old quarter of Rosh Pina, where the Frierdiker Rebbe made an impromptu stop in 5689 (1929), is now on the market.
The home in the Upper Galilee town in northern Israel was built in the late 19th century by the Keller family and carries a unique chapter of Chabad history.
During the Frierdiker Rebbe’s historic and only visit to Eretz Yisroel, his car broke down on the way up to the holy city of Tzfas. Forced to stop in Rosh Pina, he approached the Keller family home and was warmly welcomed inside.
Aviv Keller, then just ten years old, vividly recalled how the Rebbe davened Mincha in the house, and drank tea with freshly picked lemon leaves.
He then blessed the family with the words: “Lang leben un gezunten yahren” (“May you live long and healthy years.”) Many members of the family went on to live well into their 90s, a fact Aviv attributed to the Rebbe’s blessing.
The property for sale today is situated on a 10,764-square-foot lot, featuring a 1,615-square-foot interior and an expansive 9,150-square-foot garden. It includes four rooms, mature landscaping, tasteful two-level design, parking, and additional building rights. Listed as a preservation home, it is described as “a paradise full of nostalgia and character.”
Real estate agent Chen Mardix, who holds the exclusive listing, said interest has already been shown by those who value both the home’s charm and its historical importance.
The asking price of ₪4.3 million—equivalent to about $1.29 million USD—reflects both the property’s location in one of Israel’s oldest towns and its unique connection to a notable moment in Lubavitch history.
