The 42nd Hiloula of Baba Sali of saintly memory attracted more than 1450 people this past Wednesday night in Crown Heights.
The Hiloula was organized by the Rav of Merkaz Sefard and of the Sefardic community in Crown Heights, Rabbi Lazer Avtzon, and was done in partnership with Reb Hirshel and Annette Lipsker (a granddaughter of the Baba Sali) and their children and grandchildren.
The grand ballroom of Beth Rivkah was filled to capacity with community members, along with guests from Flatbush, Queens, Long Island, New York City, New Jersey, and even as far away as Israel and France.
Additionally, over 1000 viewers watched the Hiloula online via YouTube.
A replay of the Hiloula can be viewed here.
Inspiring Divrei Torah, Brachot, Chizuk and stories, as well as special Tefilot for Am Yisroel, the soldiers of the IDF, and those wounded in Bondi, Australia, were offered by Rabbi Lazer Avtzon, Rabbi Gad Bouskila, Rabbi Aaron Chein, and Rabbi Shais Taub.
Rabbi Michoel Hassan of Monsey, made a Siyum on Mesechta Suckah for those learning Daf Yomi of the Talmud Yerushalmi.
Rabbi Daniel Glatstein of Torah Anytime, who spoke in person by the Hiloula of Abir Yaacov, recorded a video with Divrei Bracha and Torah insights from the Baba Sali, as he was preparing to leave to Israel to be at the Tsion of Baba Sali on his Yahrzeit.
Scrumptious Moroccan food was provided by Nati Abecasis of Mendy’s Crown Heights.
Sound camera and video systems were provided by Levi Hillel.
Pianist and singer Hillel Melloul of Marseilles, France, provided the musical entertainment.
On Thursday evening, Rabbi Avtzon was at the Ohel to give over all the requests for Brachot given to him during the Hiloula. A copy of all the Bakashot, was given to Rabbi Aaron Chein who flew Thursday to Eretz Yisroel, to be read by Baba Sali’s Tsion on Friday.
With the fervent prayer that in the merit of this Hiloula, we merit the immediate Geulah now.
Partial sponsorship was provided by Valerie Sebag of 555 Properties, and additional sponsorship opportunities to help cover the costs of this Hiloula, and to support the Merkaz Sefarad to remain open, are much needed and would be greatly appreciated.
