In honor of Yud Aleph Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday, philanthropist Guma Aguiar held a cocktail reception in his Ft. Lauderdale home for his home-state’s Shluchim.
Mr. Aguiar announced his project of the Chabad Visitor Center to be constructed at the Kotel, and showed videos about the project in his home.
Arriving for the celebration from New York were Rabbi and Mrs. Yehuda Krinsky, Rabbi Mendel and Mrs. Sharfstein, Mrs. Baila Olidort, Rabbi Zev and Yossi Katz, Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook, and Mr. Stephen Salzberg.
Mr. Aguiar, Mr. Louis Aguiar, and Rabbi Moishe Meir Lipszyc welcomed the group as they arrived to Ft. Lauderdale.
The event was followed by a Yud Aleph Nissan farbrengen at The Shul of Bal Harbor, hosted by Rabbi Sholom Lipskar. Mr. Aguiar spoke about the project and his passion to help realize the Rebbe’s vision.
Rabbi Krinsky recalled the Rebbe’s enthusiasm for a Chabad display at the 1964 World’s Fair, and drew parallels with the proposed project that is expected to serve as a state-of-the-art center where visitors will have the opportunity to deepen their experience at the Kotel.
