Over 600 family members, friends, colleagues, alumnae, parents and Crown Heights community members saluted the 55 years of education and dedication of Mrs. Shaindel Tiechtel, better known as the Indomitable Morah Teichtel, on Sunday.
The evening at the Rose Hall of Beis Rikvah on Lefferts Ave. was beautifully set up, with a dessert bar in the hallway, soft lighting and a beautiful stage. In addition to the crowd present, thousands more watched online.
It began with a 12th-grade choir singing an original ode to Morah Tiechtel.
Mrs. Chanie Zalmanov introduced the evening, mentioning how she herself is a BR graduate and has 8 daughters who had Morah Tiechtel as their principal.
Mrs. Debbie Cadaner represented the alumnae, sharing her personal story of how she lived in the Tiechtel home and how Morah Tiechtel became her mentor for life.
Chaya Zirkind, a popular high school teacher, spoke about the innocent confidence Morah Tiechtel had in her abilities. In turn, passes this trust on to her students and brings them all to great achievements.
Mrs. Libby Chein spoke on behalf of the mothers. She marveled how Morah Tiechtel is in active contact with over 600 parents, addressing their concerns and sharing information.
Rishi Wolvosky, a current student at Bais Rivkah High School, told of the time Morah Tiechtel took a train at midnight to protect her students.
Then Morah Tiechtel took the stage. She eloquently expressed how a three-word statement from the Rebbe, “libanecha elu hatalmidim,” took years of chinuch to unravel. She told stories that led her to see her students as children and the impact this had on her life and the lives of her students.
Morah Tiechtel thanked two colleagues who were by her side for years, Mrs. Fradel Goldschmidt and Mrs. Rivkie Piekarski, along with long-time secretary Mrs. Chana Lipsker. She also briefly reviewed the school’s 55-year history and thanked board members, colleagues and directors who had a direct impact on the successful institution that Bais Rivkah is today.
The greatest thanks, of course, goes to the Rebbe, whose vision and leadership is directly responsible for Morah Tiechtel’s impact these past 55 years.
Along with a gift, a journal was presented with letters from alumnae around the world thanking Morah Tiechtel. Video presentations focused on today’s alumnae and the impact Morah Tiechtel has had on their lives.
All participants received a beautiful booklet on their seat with excerpts from the instructions Morah Tiechtel received from the Rebbe about Chinuch. Click here to download.
The evening was a worthy tribute to over half a century of educating generations of women.

GO TIECHTELS!!!!!!!!!!!
Well deserved honor.
This event had me in tears several times.
Morah Tiechtel’s towering strength and immense contribution to Lubavitch is the Rebbe’s genius.
thank you!
A boy A man a father, growing up in Crown Heights. I am nothing special no fan fair no glamour. Just a poshute yid doing my best at every moment.
Watching this tribute to a very special Mechaneches, makes me feel warmth and privileged to be a Tate of a BR girl under the auspices of Mrs Taichtel. So special so real so deserving of a beautiful night of thanks.
Personally. I wish we would have had a figure in our yeshiva (a Rabbi Taichtel) sadly we didn’t. But glad the Bnos Yisroel in CH did.
Chazak. Besuros Tovos.
