Hakhel is the year of gathering.
And it’s time for the women of Crown Heights to come together too.
This year, as part of a global N’shei Hakhel initiative called “Hello, Neighbor!”, spearheaded by Junior N’Shei of Crown Heights, women in Crown Heights will be gathering during the week of Pesach Sheini (Sunday, May 22) through Lag BaOmer (Thursday, May 26). The goal is to have at least one gathering on every block in Crown Heights, and ideally in every building where Jews live. That’s a total of 40-50 gatherings, and potential for upwards of 150!
Each of us has a circle of influence. When each of us does our part to positively influence our environment, our community becomes a kinder, more united place. Yes, even with all our many differences, if we choose to focus on what unites us, we can bring the Spirit of Achdus to our community.
Here’s how you can be part of this amazing initiative:
A new site, www.theHakhelProject.com has been created to help organize it, including an amazing map updated a few times daily with new gatherings as they are established.
If you would like to host a new gathering, simply choose date and time to gather your friends, family, or block. Fill out the form on the site here to register your gathering and have it appear on the map. Or, even more simply, send a WhatsApp or text message to 1-917-703-4964 with the time, date, and location of your gathering.
Can’t host but want to attend? Check the site or the map directly to see what’s already been arranged for your block.
Is your block left out? It’s up to you! Message your friends, relatives, and neighbors and help arrange a gathering ensure that your circle of influence is part of this incredible campaign!
Worldwide Jewish Unity is a big goal, and it starts with smaller doses of unity. Gatherings among family, friends, and neighbors are a great way to do that.
Think Global, Act Local.
