Williamsburg, NY – Hatzolah Emergency crews in Williamsburg were called to a multi-family home early this afternoon, after a small child fell from a fifth-floor porch.
5 year-old Shimon Yisroel Meisels fell from the porch at 200 Wallabout Street and Lee Avenue, shortly before 8:00 P.M.
The child was in critical condition when taken by ambulance to Brooklyn hospital, but later succumbed to the injuries and passed away.
Shimon Yisroel is the grandson of Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Meisels, Shopron Rav of Williamsburg.
Tragically, Shimon Yisroel lost his mother two years ago from a terminal illness.
Boruch Dayan Haemes
It doesnt matter who he is related to. Every yid is precious. We lost a precious neshama
Why don’t people put gates? Whoever doesn’t have gates is asking for this! bde
may she have an elevation of the neshama
we need moshiach
You can see by the pictures that some of the families in that building have added a much higher metal fence on top of the existing one. As a bubby, I am always reminding my family never to leave anything on the porch that an active normal child could climb on and …. Perhaps our heimishe developers could begin designing the balconies with the extra height in the interest of safety. And people already living in these units should do the additional work themselves. A life is priceless. Moshiach NOW
Anyone with child gates MUST CHECK THEM
I just checked gate on East NY condos
The opening bottom gate is to big.
[Please get experienced person who KNOWS ABOUT GATES FOR CHILDREN, HEIGHT ETC ETC, CHECK OUT YOUR GATE.
May we only hear Simchas.
MOSHIACH NOW.
This is the THIRD such tragedy in this same building!!
read the article, he was 5 years old not 5 months!
Is what people have to say right after a child falls from a fifth floor building to his death. All peolpe can do is start judging the parent and determining if the child was worthy of living or not because his grandfather was this guy and uncle was that guy. Who cares who the child’s grandfather, or uncle was. Why does that matter? What about the father who is still grieving the loss of his wife, who now has do deal with the death of his 5 year old. That is the saddest part of it all.
Of course it makes a VERY big difference to us that the child was Jewish! I’m not saying that if it was a goy, it wouldn’t be a tragedy, but the child being Jewish makes the tragedy much greater…
המקום ינחם אתכם
How about who cares who the child is at all? Not whether he was jewish or not?!
These small porches have gates that are not nearly high enough for small children, especially if they play unattended. If a child stands on a toy, chair or table too close to the railing….rachmana litzlan. Such a tragedy! Baruch dayan haemes.
how can 5 month old get to the porch? that is so scary.
What does it matter if he is from a chashuv family or not. This child was Jewish. It wouldn’t make it less sad if he wasn’t from a chashuv family. So superficial….
Moshiach now. May we soon be reunited with all the ones that left us!
To 5 and 9. A terrible tragedy, a precious neshama has lost his life and you can only think of yichus. ! May the family have no more tzar and try to rebuild their lives
