Celebrating Together, Miles Apart

In honor of Yud Daled Kislev, the Shluchim Online School celebrated the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s wedding together, from countries around the world.

The students focused on the special bond created by the Rebbe and his Chassidim on this special day.

Yehudis Loschak, of California, our Kallah, and Gitty Krinsky, of Needham, MA, our Chosson, were married under a Chupah built by a student of Victoria, Canada.

While learning the story of the Rebbe’s wedding, the students acted the story out over webcam, complete with the costumes. A meal was served by the waiters and music was played by our band.

On Yud Daled Kislev, thousands of miles away in Dneperpetrovsk, Ukraine, the Rebbe’s parents were forbidden by the government to attend the wedding in Warsaw. They therefore celebrated their own wedding in Dnep, with the townspeople there.

“Now, we are able to celebrate together through the online classroom, but imagine so many years ago when there was no internet, and the Rebbe’s parents had to celebrate miles away without seeing their son. That’s sad,” an Online School student said after the celebration.

In addition to the wedding celebration, the younger girls learned how to create neat napkin designs to use on the wedding tables, and made Hiskashrus chains connecting them to the Rebbe. The older girls enjoyed an interactive workshop on connections, where they learned what Yud Daled Kislev and Hiskashrus means to them in a practical way.
