Rabbi Shimon Raichik of Cong. Levi Yitzchak conducted a Chanukah party for the Jews incarcerated at the men’s jail in LA County on Tuesday evening.
Prior to the program, a Menorah lighting and Chanukah party was held with the officials of the jail system. It was also an event to acknowledge their assistance for Jewish prisoners in the system. They used the visiting room for the party.
The special guest was LA County Sheriff, Lee Baca, who presides over the largest sheriff office in the US, with an annual budget of $2.5 billion.
Rabbi Raichik thanked him for his help in allowing services and kosher food in the LA county jail system, and with his officers on patrol in LA (outside the city of LA and Beverly Hills).
After the party, Rabbi Raichik conducted a chanukah party in the cell area, accompanied by Rabbi Zvi Boyarsky, Rabbi Yankee Raichik, and several volunteers.
Rabbi Raichik is amazing. He is very busy and always makes a person feel that they are important and gives his full attention and caring when they call with a question or a problem chas v’shalom. I’m so happy to have him as my Rov.
