Rabbi Yakov Noach Lazaros, longtime Shliach of Bais Chabad in Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away on Shabbos morning, Rosh Chodesh Iyar, 5786, at the age of 78.
For 47 years, Rabbi Lazaros, together with his wife Mrs. Sheva Lazaros, served the Framingham community with unwavering dedication and mesirus nefesh.
Sent on shlichus in 1978 under Rabbi Hershel Fogelman, he devoted his life to spreading Yiddishkeit and strengthening Jewish life throughout the area.
A true chosid of the Rebbe, Rabbi Lazaros was known for his sincerity, refinement, and deep commitment to his mission. He brought countless individuals closer to Torah and mitzvos through his warmth and personal example.
Rabbi Lazaros received semicha from the great posek Rabbi Moshe Feinstein z”l, and was widely respected as a talmid chochom and expert in halacha. He was especially known for his tireless involvement in mivtzoim, reaching Jews from all walks of life with care and dedication.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sheva Lazaros, and children: Sruly & Shai Lazaros (Brooklyn); Chaim & Anna Lazaros (Hong Kong); Moshe and Libby Lazaros (Lakeland, Florida); Gitzy & Levi Small (Atlanta, GA; Sarah Lazaros (Manhattan, NY); Mendel & Ariella Lazaros (Englewood, NJ); Shaya and Shlomit Lazaros (Ohr Yehuda, Israel) – and many grandchildren.
The levaya will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon NY, in the afternoon. Exact time will be announced. Rabbi Levi Fogelman will officiate.
