The Scottsdale police bomb squad has been called to investigate a “suspicious item” at a Jewish center, East Valley Tribune has reported.
An envelope was found at the Chabad Learning Center, on N Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona, which read “What happened in Mumbai can happen here.”
According to Sgt. Mark Clark, Scottsdale police spokesman, three businesses have been evacuated. Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to investigate, and they reportedly reacted to the envelope.
Chabad of Scottsdale is run by Rabbi Yossi Levertov, his wife Dina and Rabbi Yossi Bryski.
“Everything is fine Baruch Hashem,” an employee at Chabad told COLlive in a phone conversation. Nobody was hurt. We are waiting for the police to tell us what’s happening.”
Arizona’s Head Shliach Rabbi Zalman Levertov from Phoenix came to the scene too.
Rabbi Levertov’s son told also told COLlive that the strip mall that the Chabad House is located in is still closed.
Chabad-Lubavitch Centers have been under alert ever since the Chabad House in Mumbai was the target of militant attacks there last week and five hostages were killed.
