Asher Hershkowitz, the son of the Shluchim in the southern Israeli city of Ofakim, tragically passed away this week, Sivan 5784.
He was 21.
Hershkowitz was this past year a kevutza student in the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
He grew up on Shlichus in Ofakim, where his parents Rabbi Yisroel and Sara Hershkowitz (nee Donin) have established and lead a growing Chabad community with several institutions.
During the massacre on October 7, 2023, Ofakim was one of the locations that Hamas terrorists targeted. Rabbi Hershkowitz was widely recognized for his efforts in the aftermath of the attack.
Asher Hershkowitz, one of 12 siblings, is sadly the third child in the family who passes away.
His sister Chaya Mushka Hershkowitz obm dedicated her young life to helping and educating Jews in Ofakim. At age 23, she passed away on Friday, 29 Sivan 5771.
His brother Rabbi Shimmy Hershkovitz, a husband and father of a baby who returned to Ofakim to help his father in Shlichus, passed away on Tuesday, 26 Elul, 5783. He was 27 and passed away and battled a terrible illness.
The funeral took place on Thursday, 28th of Sivan, 5784 at the cemetery in Ofakim.
