She was 23 and in the past week fell ill.
Hershkowitz, daughter of the shluchim to Ofakim, Rabbi Yisroel and Sarah Hershkowitz, worked in the educational institutions her parents have built and direct.
Her sudden passing has shocked the community in southern Israel, the family and her friends.
“Chaya was an example of yiras shamayin, chassidishkeit and midos,” one of her friends said. “In seminary she always helped everyone and smiled.”
Another said, “I know her from class. she was a really special girl and her big blue eyes always portrayed happiness and understanding.”
She is survived by her parents, 12 siblings and grandparents. The funeral was held Friday.

Please have a little seichel. True, this is not right and we need to tell Hashem how we feel. But to say “there are many people in the world we could do without”? Who’s “we”? What does “we” know? THIS tragedy shouldn’t have happened. Let’s not wish any others, please.
This is not right! Hashem, there are many people in this world who we could do without if you intend to take anyone away from us. This girl is not the one. BDE
A woman recently passed away (from c…..) in our community. I think it’s important to know what kind of c it was so that it raise awareness for other women. If we know the facts about these sad things, we might be able to save ourselves, our families and our friends from the same grief.
