This past Sunday, a momentous ceremony took place in Jefferson Township for the highly anticipated Kiryas Anshei Lubavitch summer home village in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
The 65-acre development, nestled in the Mount Cobb area in the heights of the Pocono Mountains, marks the beginning of a vibrant new community.
The ceremony was led by Rabbi Lable Itkin, Shliach in nearby Scranton, who opened with a heartfelt Dvar Torah. He was followed by Rabbi Yossi Garelik, Rov of Anshei Lubavitch Shul, who shared the Rebbe’s sicha from the groundbreaking of 770 Eastern Parkway.
The program continued with the official groundbreaking and the placing of the cornerstone for the new shul, symbolizing the foundation of Torah and communal life at the heart of the village.
Phase One of the project, featuring 40 units, is projected to be ready by Summer 2026 and is already almost fully reserved, Most lots are generously sized at approximately 70% of an acre, offering families both comfort and space in a beautiful natural setting.
Alongside the residences, plans call for a shul, camp, two pools, a splash pad, tennis and basketball courts, baseball field, mikvah, and more — all designed to create a warm and vibrant atmosphere where families can flourish.
While it is envisioned as a summer home village, the abundance of activities and amenities ensures that families will find plenty to enjoy year-round, including throughout the winter months.
With three sizes of thoughtfully designed houses to choose from, Kiryas Anshei Lubavitch is being built as a place where Chabad families can come together, connect, and enjoy the beauty of the Pocono Mountains in an environment infused with Chassidishkeit and community.

With housing prices through the roof, and rental prices also unaffordable (think about an increase of thousand dollars per month because the “market went up” thought salaries did not go up–how is anyone supposed to save for a down payment went rent is what it is?) Is what we need really another bungalow colony? If we are building homes and developments, let it be one then relieves the unimaginable stress on renters and people paying $5-6k per month on mortgages (for a house that is not fancy or large, by the way) because of the skyrocketing house prices. How about… Read more »
if there are families who bought many years ago behind Lefferts when prices were manageable and now want to do a beautiful thing like many chasidishe families have done throughout the past decades… ie spend summers in a bungalow colony with good gashmius and ruchnias… and from the fact that they’re building, it means they do have the means to get away… what business is this of yours? why does it bother you? would these people staying in crown heights for the summer instead of going away make you happier? why such envy?
For saying it.
Perhaps it shouldn’t be presented as some kind of mivtzah, that the Rebbe requested in building up the neighborhood & making affordable housing?
This is not for those that can’t afford to pay the rent.
Unfortunatly
Very sad
There are many that can’t
Afford to pay rent
More then anyone can imagine
Truth be said .it’s a painful read for them…
Their children don’t have
What many of their classmates have…
Let’s face it
It is what it is
Sadly
i am sorry to say but this is a an overly emmotional statement
Perhaps give them the benefit of the doubt; maybe they are looking to start something more permanent and because it’s a big deal, this is the way to go about it.
Let me ask do all these ppl who have or are building 2nd homes in the Bungalow, do they pay full tuition? Where I grew up no one had 2nd homes even rich ppl did not have 2nd homes.
They do pay full
Maybe the pay double or even triple how do we know what’s going on in people’s lives
So now everyone is a bunch of farmers,
Poconos + Kingston is already the seed of an enormous Chabad and religious Jewish settlement. Brooklyn is in secular decline besides that there is not enough housing.
More Jews, more of the time, means more money into the local economy, which once reaching a critical mass creates its own dynamic.
Business and permanent settlements are not far behind.
Is there a website to go?
Can we get more information please?
That may be your first step toward getting to purchase one of their colony’s bungalows?
Just guessing, though…
Where is there information about buying these homes? [email protected]
Is this being built in the old David Elliott Chicken slaughterhouse?
Smart young families, realizing they are priced out of the housing market, are making the decision to at least have an affordable vacation home. This enables them to enjoy the benefits of home ownership, having a place to get away from the city hustle and bustle any time they want all year long, and having a beautiful Chassidishe community to spend their summers with. Kol HaKavod!
This is great but it isn’t people priced out of local housing building affordable vacation homes, c’mon
Mazal tov to Anshei Lubavitch! Get out of Mamdani’s dangerous fiefdom ASAP!
In all seriousness, may it be a place of ruchnius and achdus!
