The NYPD this week announced the appointment of Fred Kreizman as Assistant Commissioner of Community Affairs, a key leadership role focused on strengthening relationships between the Police Department and the diverse communities of New York City.
The appointment was made by Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who praised Kreizman’s longstanding record of public service and deep understanding of the city’s neighborhoods.
Kreizman is an Orthodox Jew who ran former Mayor Eric Adams’ community affairs unit, and has built a reputation for getting things done and earning the respect and trust of communities across the five boroughs. Over the years, he has worked closely with civic leaders, clergy, elected officials, and grassroots organizations, fostering cooperation and open lines of communication.
In his new role as Assistant Commissioner of Community Affairs, Kreizman will oversee efforts to strengthen partnerships between the NYPD and local communities, address concerns, and ensure that New Yorkers not only are safe, but feel safe.
Rabbi Chanina Sperlin welcomed the appointment. “I have known Fred since 2002, when he worked for Michael Bloomberg,” Sperlin said. “He has always been a friend to this community and to all the different communities in New York City. He understands people, he listens, and he cares. We thank the Police Commissioner for giving him this important position.”
