A Mother’s Reflection on Graduation Night at TTOP

It’s hard to describe the emotion of watching my son graduate eighth grade at TTOP. This graduation felt different from the other traditional ones I attended this season. The boys sat with their families over a fleishig seuda. You could feel that every person truly wanted to be there.

Rabbi Wagner, asked each boy to prepare a short speech reflecting on their growth this year. The Rebbeim spoke with genuine warmth, showing just how well they knew and and how much love they had for each child. Each boy’s speech was unique just like him. At TTOP, every boy is seen, guided, and celebrated as an individual.

Eight years ago, we took a leap of faith enrolling our son in the very first first-grade class at the newly-revamped TTOP. Looking back, we couldn’t have made a better choice. The school’s warmth and whole-child approach were felt every step of the way.

One of my son’s fond memories from that first year was when his baby sister was born, and every Rebbi wished him Mazel Tov, not just his Rebbi. On the rare occasion he visited the principal’s office, he described it as having a heart-to-heart conversation on how to get better. I once asked him if the boys are scared of the principal. He thought for a moment and said, “No… they respect him.”

This is a school where connection matters more than control. Where who your child plays with at recess is as important as what he learns in class.

The learning is thoughtful and structured. Chumash Mishnayos and Gemara are taught step by step, helping boys learn how to learn.

The Rebbeim model emes. Boys are encouraged to take initiative from packing Mishloach Manos to running Mivtzoim and publishing a school magazine. These programs teach real-life skills: empathy, responsibility, and collaboration.

Another thing that sets TTOP apart is the camaraderie, not just within a class, which is special in its own right, but across grades. The older and younger boys truly know each other. That kind of connection only comes from being part of a holistic school where everyone is seen and valued.

Our bochur, baruch Hashem, has grown so much. Watching him receive his diploma from his beloved Rebbe, in a school that has truly shaped him, filled us with pride.
