Chabad Shluchim from around Russia gathered this past Shabbos in Rostov-on-don for a regional Shabbaton hosted by local Shluchim Rabbi Chaim Danzinger and Rabbi Shmuel Stolin.
The gathering took place a month before the 100th yartzeit of the Rebbe Rashab that will take place on Beis Nisan, in a month’s time.
The rabbis visiting Rostov began their gathering with davening together at the Ohel of the Rebbe Rashab, asking for the welfare of their families, communities and Shlichus.
There was great excitement in the Rostov community as the rabbis joined them for davening and meals throughout Shabbos. Leading the farbrengen was Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar. Shluchim took a hachlotah to pair up in chavrusas to join the weekly sichos initiative.
Joining the Shluchim were their sons who meet virtually every day at the online school. Hailing from cities around the country, specifically, out of the large community in Moscow, they were thrilled to meet in person.
Russian transportation magnate and philanthropist David Aminov who joined the Shabbaton was so impressed with them that he committed to organizing a camp for them, in addition to Camp Gan Israel in Moscow.
All participants received a memento of a booklet about the history of the Jewish community in Rostov, including the Rebbe Rashab’s years there and the Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim that was located there.
Following Shabbos, participants bid farewell to each other and looked forward to gathering again in a month’s time with many more Chassidim and bochurim from around the world for the 100th Beis Nisan.
