The Gabboim of the Main Shul 770 Eastern Parkway announced that out-of-towners will not be allowed inside as of today as concerns grow of a possible resurgence of COVID 19.
“Under the advisement of the Rabbonim and the community physicians, we are announcing that anyone who enters the 770 Shul building must keep all doctors recommendations, wear a mask and keep social distancing,” they wrote.
The letter also states that anyone who is not from the neighborhood is forbidden from entering the 770 building at any time.
“These rules must be kept in order to keep the Shul open,” they wrote.
This notice comes in addition to local Rabbonim and Doctors’ requests that out-of-towners do not visit the neighborhood altogether.
“Those from other communities – please, avoid visiting Crown Heights for the time being. This is even more critical when involving those from the “hotspot” states such as Florida and California, where cases are unfortunately surging. NY State requires a 14-day quarantine for all those from those regions. Similarly, those currently living in Crown Heights are advised to not visit those hotspot states for the time being, and they must quarantine on their return if they do so,” the Gedaliah Society and Dr. Eli Rosen said.
They also said that the Crown Heights neighborhood has returned to the “Yellow Light” mode with regards to social distancing, masks, and gatherings.
The move was announced due to reports of possible reinfection of Covid-19 in Crown Heights, as well as more than 50,000 new coronavirus cases in the U.S. on Wednesday – a record high for a single day.
On Thursday, Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yosef Braun of Badatz Crown Heights issued a letter on Thursday calling on the public to adhere to the instructions of health officials.
“We are alerting all that listen to our voice to take the caution necessary according to Torah to listen to doctor’s instructions and do all that we can with distancing etc. to avoid the spread of the illness,” they wrote.

Will they be in quarantine for two weeks?
They need to have One entrance, one exit, and someone at the door making sure anyone who enters is wearing a mask. Don’t assume anyone will follow these rules on their own.
This mask business is all about control and has NOTHING to do with safety. It’s just stressing everyone out and doesn’t let people breathe properly. It’s not safe for anyone who has any slight trouble breathing. Enough with this checking to see who’s wearing and who’s not! Let people make their own responsible choices.
You don’t get to make “responsible” choices that effect other people.
Ohh, and when I said responsible, I was being cynical.
But then they might have to close the Shul. Some masks are better then others and bh the AC worked better in 770 this week.
That most people who do wear masks in NYC are wearing inadequate and inappropriate masks to actually stop the covid 19 virus from spreading so if they are going to put a gabai and a rov near the entrance and exit doors of 770 may i suggest getting a doctor to be there as well to approve and disapprove all the different varieties of masks people are wearing these days. This is without even going in to the question of whether wearing a “unapproved mask” is considered carrying in the public domain.. i have yet to hear a clear psak… Read more »
There was a psak about wearing a mask asked to ask a rabbi. Paper masks are an issue with shabbos according to this psak.cloth masks maybe clothing. If there is atill a question our rabbanim should answer on this. All masks are better than no masks even though some are better than others
Remember it was the Chinese who told us about the warm weather that kills the virus, even the Shliach there mentioned it in his video earlier this year, now do you really trust the Chinese study?
The ones who spread it globally & lied about it from the very beginning…
It might be true what you’re saying, however, it’s been proven that masks are a big game changer in preventing the spread.
And besides, the surgical masks don’t prevent u from getting it from someone else, they prevent the spread. So if EVERYONE wears masks, they’ll be no spreading!!!
Even Moshe Rabeeinu wore a mask
for sure there are record breaking numbers. now they have proper testing. if we would have had proper testing in march, there might have been 500,000 – 1 million a day testing positive . but we now know based on all the numbers that there’s 99.5% survival rate. plus its a democrat party fear mongering
would be nice to hear a logical reasoning why what he said doesn’t make sense
This is ridiculous,if you fear for your health than dont go to shul.
It’s a free country.
There’s over a 99% survival rate(.02 % fatality rate or something like that)
How will it work with the ladies? How many people are going to be allowed in?
Do you think that it may be possible that the huge amount of new cases could be connected to the enormous number of protesters gathering together.
Those people aren’t not going to 770
