A maamar (Chassidic discourse) dated back to the third Lubavitcher Rebbe was published this past week in Brooklyn for the very first time in history.
“Viymey hapurim haele” was said by the Tzemach Tzedek, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn in the Lyubavichi village in Russia on Purim day in the year 5619 (1859).
His son, the Rebbe Maharash, Rabbi Shmuel of Lubavitch, wrote down the maamar at the time.
The hand-writing, recently made available to the Otzar Hachassidim editing group, Rabbi Gavriel Shapiro and Rabbi Elie Matusof have edited the maamar and added footnotes and citations.
It was published this past Friday by Lahak as a 12 page booklet and dedicated by the Gourarie family in memory of Rebbetzin Chava Gurary, wife of Rabbi Shneur Zalman Gurary OBM.
