From the COLlive Inbox:
I just wanted to thank the organizers of this “30 letters in 30 days” Shiur, and especially Rabbi Shais Taub, for giving over the Rebbe’s letters with such clarity and passion that allows it to really resonate and penetrate the heart.
I heard about the Shiur well after it began, and then it slipped my mind for a few more days in the midst of Pesach preps, so I have been catching up from day 1, sometimes doing two or three letters a day.
I feel like I’m in a bubble of the Rebbe’s guidance and I don’t want to leave. I don’t want it to end. You have brought to our attention how many people have commented on wanting you to continue this Shiur after the Rebbe’s birthday, and I am confident you will not let us down, especially since you emphasized how much the Rebbe wants us to learn them. (How’s that for pressure?)
When you mention, on air, that you don’t want to exceed the time allotment of 30 minutes, but yet at the same time, you still have so much to say on that letter, I wish you could hear us yelling at the computer screen saying, “Don’t stop!! Keep going!!! We don’t care how long you take!!”
But instead, we are left curious, longing to hear all that remained unspoken, all the beautiful stories of the Rebbe you omitted, due to time constraints.
I don’t know how the specific letters were chosen, but the incredible variety covered so many crucial topics that we can all relate to and need chizuk and encouragement in;
Women being chassidim too…Feeling lucky and blessed with what we have… Understanding that it’s not enough to ask for blessings, but we must make sure we are a vessel to be able to receive them. (Using rain as a parable for being the blessing that allows things in the ground to grow, but a ground with no seeds will produce nothing, no matter how much it rains)…just to name a few. There is so much to learn from each and every one of these letters.
Listening to the Rebbe’s answers to people (even though these letters are from almost 70 years ago) makes me feel like the Rebbe is talking to me, to us, right now, live, as if we were at a farbrengen, and it feels so real. I found myself crying a few times during some of the letters, overcome with emotion, and feeling closer to the Rebbe than I have ever felt in my life. I have BH’ many dollars from the Rebbe that I received mostly as a child, teenager, and a young adult in my early twenties, but was too young to appreciate. I have never felt closer to the Rebbe than I do right now.
What an effective and genius idea to help people feel closer and connected to the Rebbe (while in turn making the Rebbe proud) by learning and understanding, IN ENGLISH, especially, words that the Rebbe wrote to actual people, allowing us to feel like the Rebbe is literally talking to us!!!
As we learn in Tanya, words are limited in comparison to thought, and can not suffice to properly articulate the vast mind, and so I will end by saying that there are NO WORDS to express how meaningful, and powerful, and inspiring, and special these Shiurim are to me, and I’m sure to so many others.
I really hope they continue, and if not I will replay them a second and third time, as I have already been doing. I take them on walks with me, and every time I re-listen to a letter, I discover a few things that I missed the first time around, and it affects me more deeply and more powerfully.
Thank you again and again! What a Zchus you have to reach so many people with this gift Hashem gave you of giving things over so beautifully, and explaining it so well, utterly captivating your audience. I especially love all your added input of cherished Rebbe stories to go along with each letter.
Thank you for allowing me to give the Rebbe a present for the Rebbe’s birthday. At least now I feel that I brought some Nachas to the Rebbe.
Sincerely, Sara
