A community trip from F.R.E.E. in Chicago traveled to New York this week ahead of the Rebbe‘s 120th birthday on Yud Alef Nissan.
Sunday, the 2nd of Nissan, was itself an opportune time as the yartzeit of the Rebbe Rashab, the fifth Rebbe of Chabad-Lubavitch.
The was organized by Shluchim Rabbi Shmuel and Shternie Notik of FREE of Illinois and included visits to the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens and Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
Together, participants of the group each wrote a pan, davened and said Tehillim for their families and community. They also davened for the Jews of Ukraine caught in the crossfire of the war.
The participants were noticeably moved by the experience, Rabbi Notik told COLlive.com.
“We bring groups to the Rebbe regularly and in honor of Yud Alef Nissan 120 we made an effort to organize an extra special trip,” Rabbi Notik said.
He added that “it was especially meaningful to see that a number of those who came with us in the past brought their families along.”
“It demonstrates the power of bringing a Yid to the Rebbe,” Rabbi Notik said. “Even people who are so far from Yiddishkeit are affected to the point that the next time they become the “Shluchim” to bring others along.”
