Plain gold ring

The following is an explanation that the Rebbe gives in a letter, as to why we give a plain smooth gold ring at the marriage ceremony: Any other kind of a ring, such as a diamond etc. – if it gets damaged, it is almost impossible to get it back to its original perfect state. Whereas a smooth plain gold ring, when damaged, can be welded back to its original state. So too in marriage – we take note and are encouraged from the plain gold ring – that if something gets “broken” in our relationship, we can fix it… Read more »
