In this summer like no other, with the school year cut short and re-opening dates for most schools still uncertain, many are feeling the effects of the summer slump.
Building on a successful virtual program attended by nearly 200 college students around the world, Summer for the Soul is excited to announce a one week program geared to Lubavitcher Girls 11th Grade through Sem Aleph. Featuring a packed one-week schedule of virtual classes by 9 campus shluchos, this program provides a learning environment where questions are encouraged and the learning is real.
In addition to classes throughout the day, Summer for the Soul will also have engaging nightly sessions such as Farbrengens, Open Q&A and more!
“On Gimmel Tammuz, we were discussing the incredible success of the program with our college students, and we had many Chabad girls wanting to join as well. We realized that this would be an incredible opportunity to offer our own,” says Manya Lazaroff, one of the shluchos involved in the program. “Immediately, the entire staff was on board to volunteer another week of their time, and we are looking forward to being able to make this available for our own girls – in camp, at home, or wherever else they are this summer.”
The program will feature a range of classes addressing timely issues with the full schedule available to view here. The classes will be taught by Mrs. Shifra Sharfstein (Georgia Tech University) and Mrs. Bracha Leeds (UC Berkley) who created the original Summer for the Soul, as well as Mrs. Miri Gourarie of (Penn State U), Mrs. Sarah Deitsch (Ohio State University), Mrs. Chani Shemtov (University of Illinois), Mrs. Manya Lazaroff (Texas A&M), Mrs. Esti Hecht (American University, DC), and Mrs. Yocheved Adelman (U Mass, Amherst).
While the program is being offered free of charge to students, only those registered can join. “As a grassroots program, we are seeking partnership from the global Anash community to help make this possible.” says Miri Gourarie, one of the program’s organizers “It’s integral that we show our own girls just how much we value and support their growth in Yiddishkeit.”
